Dr.Dre mourns his 20 year old son

"Andre Young Jr., the 20-year-old son of rap producer Dr. Dre, was found dead in Woodland Hills, California home Saturday morning, the LA Weekly reports. According to the Los Angeles County Coroner, Young returned home around 5:30AM, and when his mother went to check on him at 10AM, he was found unresponsive. The cause of death is still pending completion of a toxicology report, but foul play is not suspected".


My thoughts go out to Andre Young Sr a.k.a Dr.Dre and his family.

Remembering Aaliyah

1979-2001

Shit i remember when AAliyah died. I was so confused as to why it happened. I thought it was all just a rumor. I couldnt believe such a talented person was having her life cut so short at the peak of her career. And in situations like this i always remember how unfair it is that the good do die young. Besides that I want to take the time to celebrate her life and what she was able to accomplish in those years. August 25, 2008 marks the 7-year anniversary of her death R.I.P. Aaliyah.



Born in Brooklyn, New York but raised in Detroit. She got her start on Star Search.

Aaliyah met singer/composer R. Kelly. Kelly assisted Aaliyah with the production of her debut album "Age Ain't Nothing But A number" which scored several number hits, specifically "Back and Forth." Gotta love her style !

Aaliyah went on to record "One In A Million" which featured the songwriting talents of major R&B producers/writers Missy Elliott and Tim Mosley. That album was a major success.

This film led to her being cast as one of the stars of the film based on Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned (2002) and in the two sequels to the major box office hit, The Matrix (1999). ( she sadly did not get to make the Matrix sequels.

Warner Bros. Confirms Superman Reboot

"Warner Bros. Pictures Group President Jeff Robinov has told The Wall Street Journal that the studio is going to be reintroducing Superman. We assume this will be similar to how Louis Leterrier's The Incredible Hulk was a reboot of Ang Lee's Hulk. Here is what the article says:

Warner Bros. also put on hold plans for another movie starring multiple superheroes -- known as "Batman vs. Superman" -- after the $215 million "Superman Returns," which had disappointing box-office returns, didn't please executives. "'Superman' didn't quite work as a film in the way that we wanted it to," says Mr. Robinov. "It didn't position the character the way he needed to be positioned." "Had 'Superman' worked in 2006, we would have had a movie for Christmas of this year or 2009," he adds. "But now the plan is just to reintroduce Superman without regard to a Batman and Superman movie at all."

The article also talks about Warner Bros. adapting other DC properties over the new few years. "By 2011, Mr. Robinov plans for DC Comics to supply the material for up to two of the six to eight tent-pole films he hopes Warner Bros. will have in the pipeline by then," it says. Those projects will likely be about single characters at first, and will be darker much like The Dark Knight:

With "Batman vs. Superman" and "Justice League" stalled, Warner Bros. has quietly adopted Marvel's model of releasing a single film for each character, and then using those movies and their sequels to build up to a multicharacter film. "Along those lines, we have been developing every DC character that we own," Mr. Robinov says.

Like the recent Batman sequel -- which has become the highest-grossing film of the year thus far -- Mr. Robinov wants his next pack of superhero movies to be bathed in the same brooding tone as "The Dark Knight." Morro da Providencia favela is one of the most violent shanty towns in Brazil.A French photographer, known as "JR", has brought his "Women Are Heroes" campaign to the south American country's Rio slum. The photographs of women, relatives of the victims of clashes between the police and drug traffickers, were placed in the facades of the houses.He has the photos blown up and then plastered all over houses in the favela. This project already took place in Sudan, Sierra Leone, Kenya and Liberia, and will be taken to India, Cambodia, Laos and Morocco after Brazil.

It's something we see on tv, in the news, in movies, documentaries , but we dont do anything to stop whats going on. There are people in our orgin countries that cant even walk a foot without something happening to them. Its a shame we bitch about the littlest things sometimes. This campaign aims at women , its titled "Women Are Heroes". Not only are women heroes but they are gatekeepers of life. Without women concieving us , just where do you think we'd be. Not only do they shelter us for 9 months but then they raise us as well. Something to think about.

David Byrne's Bike Racks for NYC

Musician, artist and bicycling enthusiast David Byrne has designed nine temporary bike racks which have been installed around town as part of the Summer Streets program. The Department of Transportation says the artistic installations by the Talking Heads singer are meant to spark interest in bicycling.Each rack reflects its location. A guitar-shaped rack named Hipster has been placed in Brooklyn's trendy Williamsburg neighborhood,The dollar sign is of course on Wall Street, the high heel is in front of Bergdorf's, the reclining woman is in Times Square, lonely man is in Chelsea. The racks will be there for a year. After that Byrne will sell it as art pieces.

R.I.P (1942-2008)

"Grammy and Oscar-winning musician Isaac Hayes passed away early Sunday morning in Memphis, Tenn., at the age of 65. The cause of death was not immediately known.Police were called to the Haye's home by his wife who found him unresponsive on the floor near a treadmill.Hayes was taken to Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, where he was pronounced dead at 2:08 a.m. Hayes composed the soundtrack to 1971's Shaft, co-wrote the hit song "Soul Man," and provided the voice of "Chef" on South Park. He reportedly also had a small role playing himself in the upcoming movie Soul Man starring Bernie Mac, who died yesterday at the age of 50 from pneumonia."


From inspirational music, to SHAFT (soundtrack), to even playing a character on South Park. Isaac Hayes certainly was a man of Soul. He was inducted to the Rock N Roll Hall of fame in 2003. He will be missed but his music will live on forever.

Bernie has passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago. Mac suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body's organs but recently was hospitalized and treated for pneumonia, which his publicist said was not related to the disease.
