Im Cool Like Dat !!! =]
Digable Planets - Rebirth Of Slick (Cool Like Dat)
"We be to rap what key be to lock ...But i'm cool like dat "
"We be to rap what key be to lock ...But i'm cool like dat "
Seriously?
Yes Nas knocked Lil Wayne out of the number one spot but 186,000 copies ? What the fuck people! Im really upset. People can say all they want about it not being premoted about and release date not being advertised. Cut it the fuck out. This mans been everywhere ...hello do you not recall when the album was titled NIGGER. Im sure it had your attention then right? Yea because unfortunatley the masses feed into the hype. Chase the cool and im not exactly talking about Lupes Album.
I remember watching a documentary in a mass media communications class last winter about marketing "the cool". Its been done for years and still being done. In the documentary they choose a kid that fits the mold of an average teenager. They go to his/ her house and start looking for anything and everything that teen is into at the moment . Pretty much the F.B.I of advertisement gathering their "evidennce". They want to know what he/she likes, what his/hers friends like, how much of what they like , and more. They are using the youth to make money. They could care less how ignorant we are as long as we're putting money in their pockets. From that info they basically go with something they can exploit the shit out of. Same exact thing in music . You guys are funny if you think a majority of you really choose the songs they play on radio stations? Ok maybe not funny but mislead. Go ask anybody in the music buisness whose honest how they pick the songs to get played on the radio.
We are nothing but numbers to these companies. Statistics , files, paperwork, yup were homework. I Dont know about ya but i dont like being homework. So what im really trying to say is go against the fucking grain at least once in your life. I know i just got into a whole other issue but im sick and tired of seeing great classic albums getting put out and just because its not your definiton of "ringtone friendly " type of songs no one goes out and supports it. I dont use the term ringtone rappers because my ringtones be BANGIN!! Listen to music ..really listen and youll appreciate it alot more. And opinions do clash with music like anything else. But what kind of opinion can you really make if you don't bother to listen to it. Its not all about money, partying, and materialistic topics . Get some substance in ya life, some flavor in ya ear, get involved with the music you listen to because lets face it GOOD MUSIC LIVES ON. Music is never going away so get use to the better side of it.
I wont apologize for this post.

BFree & EXTRABOLD
Bfree A.K.A Merijn Hos, is a Netherlands based artist/ illustrator. I love his work its so innovative and different. His work captures life in a weird way to me.
"Half of what i do is meaningless " is the title of his upcoming exhibition in Luxembourg if your in the area you should check it out.
Merijn Hos / Bfree - Half of what I do is meaningless exhibition 09.06.2008 - 10.18.2008 at Extrabold in Luxembourg
"Asked to bring his talent to this shores for a show at Extrabold the artist has chosen the title “Half of what I do is meaningless” because, as he says, “Some drawings and work are made consciencely while other work appears on paper without any reason”. In this show at Extrabold, Merijn Hos has tried to capture this feeling, amongst other subjects that are moving him lately, in the form of framed drawings and paint work in various sizes. He also produced a t-shirt specially designed for this show."
EXTRABOLD
" Streetwear, streetart and design books, used to be hard to find and Streetartists had no place to exhibit their work. This is a thing of the past! After a couple of years of preparation, Extrabold has finally opened its doors at 24 avenue de la Liberté, one of the most beautiful avenues in Luxembourg linking the city center and the central station. The concept of the shop is new to Luxembourg and discloses a melting pot Design-Streetart in a unique space. The streetwear offer ranges from brands like Boxfresh, Fenchurch, Wesc, Pharmacy, Sixpack, Stüssy, Franklin Marshall, The Quiet Life, American Apparel, etc. to artist series by Parra, East Eric, Kryot, Alvaro, Flying Fortress and more. Book topics include: graphic design, illustration, streetart, graffiti, typography, comics... A separate gallery space is dedicated to artists with a graffiti or streetart background, but who take it to another level and do more than just convey that lifestyle. "

GYM CLASS HEROES- Peace Sign / Index Down
Im feelin this song except i think Travis be talking about conscious rappers this conscious rappers that sometimes and like LL said "Listen to what you like". Dont criticize . It goes both ways and ive heard several tracks where he mentions conscious rapping and dont get me wrong it does become obnoxious but only when they are force feeding it to you. And i dont think many artist considered "conscious rappers" are out there doing that. And for the record i talk down music thats wack there aint no backpacking, ganster, trap, ringtone rappers , and whatever else labels people like to make believe exist. Their is only one and thats good music baby so if i feel music is bad ... that just makes it BAD music. Anyways its all love . I Love Gym class Heroes just had to speak my mind.
K-OS - Born To Run
Amazing song and i like the video.
"I was running around with my head in the sand
Looking for pupil in a new fan
She told me before, baby do your own dance
Stay off the highway
That doesn’t mean you were born to run
Either we’re vain or we’re broken hearted
We don’t believe in a heaven above
That’s why we’re back to the place that we started
We fell from sky and universe
When we fell in love with the sound
Of the birds and all the ocean lights
And the gravity pulling us down
Time won’t let you go
There are some things you’ll never know
I’m hoping that she walks through the door
Im in here
If the sky would fall
Will it take that to bring us together
Do we have to start all over again"
K-Os Next album is expected to come out this fall.
None shall pass
Ludacris
"I’m in the zone home going for the two point conversion...I’m so hood that Ludacris should have been on the original version"
I love that line, Tell em Luda. Anyways I want to write about Ludacris because he holds down the A, he holds down the South , and he def holds it down for hip hop. So don't ya go forgetting about how long hes been duin it, and duin it well. Ya digg? Luda actually been on my mind for a while now im glad he dropped this and I anticipate his next album. For now heres this joint . He def letting em know not to forget and i got faith he gon continue to show em why.

Detox
ahhhhh well its a been a long time coming i mean i was still running around playing man hunt when he first mentioned Detox . Detox, the album Dr. Dre has been working on for a while finally looks like its coming! And damn im excited.
"I'm just now — over the last couple of months — starting to feel that it's going to be right and it's something I can be proud of, and everybody is going to love it," says Dr. Dre. "In a perfect world, I'm shooting for a November or December release"
According to an article on USA Today (click on title of this post for full article)
Dre also goes on to say:
"I'm going to put this record out, promote it, tour and then become a hermit. I'm going to stay in the studio and produce."
And with that being said it will be a long time after Detox before we see another Dr. Dre album . He does say he wants to work with new talent and help develop a classic. Can't be mad. Until then i await DETOX and then ill be bumping that Dre bass on full blast while im riding my bike. Don't I paint a perfect picture ? lol
Lets bump a classic

Summertime
"Brooklyn we go hard
We on the look for the advantage, we work hard
And if we seem to rough it up a bit
We broke but we rich at heart
Pull ourselves up now we won't choke
It's our time, put the lights on us
War tactics they make me sick
reel your heart in run away with it
Smile in your face, undermine your back
got guns for the strength they lack
So if you know another way
you can't look the other way
if you know another way,
tell them so right to their face
I pay for what's called
eccentricity and my will to evolve
I hear them all say
that I got heart
but not everything that it takes
Taint my mind but not my soul
Tell you I got fire
I wont sell it for no payroll
Let 'em hold me down
I know if I know another way
I can't look the other way
I know another way
I'll tell them so right to their face
We think you're a joke
Shove your hope where it don't shine "

Blackstar Ft Common - Respiration
This is my favorite song ever. Three hip hop heavyweights on a track!Mos def,
Talib, and Common delivered brutally on this track. I remember when i first heard this song it blew me away. Thats real talk. From beginning to end. I am fiending for the next Blackstar album.
With my obsession for this song being stated i just want to post another song that really takes me places. Another Blackstar joint this one is called THIEVES IN THE NIGHT. btw 88 keys produced this track .

The Banksy 411
So The Mail On Sunday , Newspaper is claiming to have uncovered Banksys' identity . And if what they say is true Banksy A.k.A Robin Gunningham is a middle class man with a public school education.
"The notion that Banksy is Gunningham, 34, who was educated at the £9,240-a-year Bristol Cathedral School, will shock the artist’s fans, fond of their hero’s ‘anti-establishment’ stance"
http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/news/article-1034613/Banksy-uncovered-The-nice-middle-class-boy-graffiti-guerrilla.html
Is that really Banksy in that picture?
Is this really who he is?
Is this factual evidence?
I dont know , who knows will Banksys' reputation be tarnished? Will all his work be questioned? I dont believe it should. His work speaks for itself regardless of where he comes from. I'm suggesting that people dont go and jump the gun.

I Aint Got Nothing
David Banner - Ain't Got Nothing - Music Video - The best home videos are here
YO! I love this video especially when the clown gets in banners face like " Let me hold suttin Banner!" and he tosses him like " you cant hold shit" And deadass im feeling like him when hes at the atm cuz I aint got shit either.
David Banner has been saying alot in the hip hop community recently. I'm glad hes speaking out about how he feels. Although we all know his album is dropping tommorrow. Ive always respected Banner as an artist and i hope his album coming out is as good as he claims it is. The Greatest Story Ever Told. In a recent interview in allhiphop.com Banner stated
"People say they want something different but they don’t support nothing different until it becomes mainstream."
So true. We all know it but this a sign , when artists are speaking out about it it means theyre getting fed up with it as well so lets cut the bullshit. Keep it real people.

Nas- Sly Fox
Directed by Rik Cordero
As we know i love this song. I like the video , it has a point its trying to make. I commend it and i like certain parts but that dialogue at the end kind of makes me not like it. when you talk about destroy and rebuilding you have to also be aware that corruption exists , its like a airbourne disease. And when you plan to destroy and rebuild people have to be aware that its not going to be easy at all. Once theres corruption involved it is so easy to lose what you have built. I dont know if im really making myself clear , just think about it.

Can I Kick It?
Wassup i just have some issues to get off my chest. Okay Asher Roth? I recently heard about him and although i haven't mentioned him in this blog as of yet I do think he is a breath of fresh air. In more ways than one. Sorry you gotta hear about him in a paragraph of my bitching but its all good . Anyways so today i go to allhiphop.com and see theres a Feature on Asher Roth. What do i do ... i read it . And i actually like this guy he really does seem like an honest person. Back to the point; his music deserves to be listened to , even though he is prob not the most lyrical rapper nor is he claiming to be. Lets face it half of the "rappers" today aren't. Scratch that half of the artists gettin airplay and video play aren't. Keep ya ears to where the real music is bangin. Anyways im going to have to put a comment on blast . This is a quote from a hiphop fan after reading the Asher Roth feature.
"He wont go Plat, he ight and all but he'll run out of shit to rap about since he didnt grow up in the hood, never fucked with drugs, aint really had a struggle... i bet he put out 2 decent albums."
Excuse me when i say WHAT THE FUCK. Now people enlighten me. If you didnt grow up in the hood, or had drug problems that means you've had no struggle? Not one at all?Life in itself is a motherfucking struggle. To say that someone will run out of things to rap about. Shit i can look at my room and make a rap album off of it. Im not trying to say its that easy what im trying to emphasize is that people have to wake up. yes WAKE UP! There is so much more to life than just living. We all have issues, good times and the bad. Everyone is a walking movie, or walking book.(whichever prefable) There are so many chapters within us and our minds realize that. Sorry for the ramblings but shit like this really makes me really think about people and their mentalities.
Moving On:
Lil Wayne This generations Bob Dylan????? The question marks speak for itself. Cus ill be damned.
"Kanye West saved rap "- Nas
I think he did at a point in time even his last album. But lately i;ve been a bit turned off by the joints hes been gettin on. I can only be sure after his next album.
Real Music Will Last. Thats a promise. Gimmicks get shot down as fast as they shot up.
This was just to get myself in a better mood. lol Take a look tho you ll prob enjoy it too.

Darkest Hour at the Fillmore
So the show last night at the fillmore was a little lackluster until Gooster got us kicked out. Thats when the night began, even though i was drunkk and high before the show started. Anyways so after Goo finished throwing up by the couch on the 1st floor a paramedic kicked him, Jits and me out. I went back to the security guard and told him that we came as a group and to let me find my friends. I go in only to come back outside since Zero and pinesol were smoking cigarettes. We all stay outside with Gooster on the curb, shaking his head mumbling "i need to sit." Some drunk girl comes outside sits with goo and is falling on him and its pretty funny. She was saying "wheres my boyfriend?! wheres my boyfriend?! " I was like he aint here. She gets mad close to Zero and starts choking him saying " How am I gonna get home!" thats some funny ass shit. Gooster threw up some more and after telling him the cops were coming, which they were not, He finally gets up and we manage to get him to the subway. Now at the subway the most annoying sounding instrument in the world was being played by a less then talented irishman. The annoying noise made Gooster even worse so we rushed to get into our train. We get to the busses and after gooster is done creating a drunken scene by the port authority we call his sister to come pick him up. take the bus home with everyone else and then smoked another blunt went home and watched Batman Gotham Knight for the 4th time.

Peanut Butter Wolf
untitled..unedited ...just raw... straight from the belly of the beast;my mind
Why does a soul wander
flowing heavenly as an evening breeze
left only with more to ponder
steps taken with ease
trying hard to maintain
in a world full of simple pleasures, pain ,and the mundane
all the sadness in the world amounts to my struggles
i feel like i mourn for a living
not because i choose to
but because its what i was given.
I shed a tear for the now and a tear for the later
Misunderstand me not for i love life
I love it so much i hurt with everyone
I feel their sorrow it engraves itself in me
A soul full of troubles
maybe one day ill let go of what lies in me
but as time is a figment of my imagination
there is no exact but intact and my presence lives on
therefore i will cry for now and rejoice later.
Let my tears flow into the wind like a soul when the search begins.
My mind can guide me but in my heart is where i exist.
